Live Sporting Action

The weekend is filled with a host of international football for you to enjoy with your Dad! We have picked out a selection of games we think you will enjoy at Pippin. Don't forget to join us to cheer on England on Monday 18th June!

Portugal v Spain

Friday 15th June 7pm

A clash between one of the oldest football rivalries in international football pits Portugal against Spain. The last time these teams met was in Euro 2012 in a semi-final match, in which Spain were victorious in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a stalemate during normal time and Spain went on to win the tournament emphatically. In the qualifiers Spain & Portugal managed to get through their groups with little difficulty, so this is set to be their toughest game yet. Will Cristiano Ronaldo fire the goals to give Portugal the best start to life in Group B, or will the fiery Diego Costa fire Spain to glory? Come along to find out!

Argentina v Iceland

Saturday 16th June 2pm

Argentina take on newcomers to the competition Iceland in the first game in Group D in which they are favourites to come out on top, though it will be no easy task for the Argentina team against an opposition that famously knocked England out of the Euros just 2 years ago. Iceland beat the odds to come out on top in their qualifying group succumbing some more well known nations to sit out the tournament. Argentina themselves did not have an easy ride through qualification and nearly missed out on the tournament, needing a last round win against Ecuador to secure their place in the competition. Questions will be asked as to whether the array of talent at Argentina's disposal will be able to see off the underdogs, or will there be another upset on the cards?

Germany v Mexico

Sunday 17th June 4pm

This game will see a rematch of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 semi-final in which Germany came away victorious with a 4-1 win, and they will fancy their chances again having stormed through their group taking maximum points. Mexico will be looking to grab the victory to help them on their way to reaching the knockout stages for the 8th time in a row, while Germany will be looking to prove their tag as favourites for the competition with a scintillating start here.

England v Tunisia

Monday 18th June 7pm

What can be said about England's chances that hasn't been said previously? Gareth Southgate's side have it all to prove in Russia with many once passionate English fans losing hope in what the national team has to offer following a disappointing exit from the Euros at the hands of Iceland. An opening day victory against the Tunisian's should help to instil some confidence in the side before their biggest test against Belgium in the final group stage game. The Tunisians defensive stability is likely to cause problems for England though they should have enough firepower to see this one through.
