Iconic grade II listed Victorian pub in Belgravia. Serving cask ales and traditional British food right next to Knightsbridge station. Both family-friendly and dog-friendly with sports viewing and disabled facilities. Originally built in 1632, the Paxtons Head has been through many incarnations in its time. Located along the south end of Hyde Park, the pub was rebuilt and renamed following the Great Exhibition that took place there in 1851. A superb example of Victorian architecture, it still boasts original oak panels, etched mirrors and glass work. The Paxton’s Head is named after Joseph Paxton, the architect responsible for Crystal Palace’s famous glass-iron structure, as many of the palace’s workmen were housed in the pub during its development. Superbly positioned with easy access to the tube as well as many tourist attractions, the pub offers an excellent range of expertly-brewed cask ale alongside a host of classic British dishes, making it the ideal venue for a leisurely lunch or a friendly catch up over a freshly-poured pint.
