New season, New Flavours Await...
DELICIOUS WINTER DISHES
As the leaves start to change colour, temperature falls and the nights are drawing in as we head into the Autumn and Winter months, we find ourselves seeking out fresh warming flavours and comfort food to enjoy during the coming months.
Our chefs have been hard at work creating a new menu that is designed to tease your taste buds. With fresh new dishes and improvements to our classics, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at The Inn on the Green this season.
There is nothing that says winter warmer like a traditional pie that is guaranteed to warm you from the inside out. Our all new steak & red wine pie is made with slow cooked British beef and a selection of seasonal mushrooms, coated in rich red wine gravy.
This mouth-watering filling is encased in a hand-crimped hot water crust pastry which holds it all together. Served with seasonal vegetables, mashed potatoes and a jug of gravy. Seriously rich and indulgent, this is a real treat.
As part of our commitment to expanding our vegan range, we have created a delicious pudding with autumnal ingredients for vegans to enjoy. The pie filling contains a range of seasonal mushrooms including chestnut, field and chanterelle, which are cooked in a vegan ale sauce which all comes together to give the dish its earthy flavours.
The filling is encased in a classic suet pastry. Served with oven cooked chips and garden peas to round off the perfect comfort food.
Introducing this light healthy sharing platter perfect for those wanting sharing food, without the guilt afterwards from the calorie overload. Our Mezze Platter combines grilled halloumi & tomato skewers, heritage tomato salad and radish to add complex flavours to this simplistic dish.
The platter also includes flatbread with houmous and tzatziki dips for the perfect crowd pleasing bread & dip combination.
This dish is an old British recipe which has been brought back to life in this dish. Old Epping sausages are made with pork mixed with beef suet & sage, made in the town of Epping in the 19th century and sought out by the people of London. The sage penetrates through the meat to give the sausage its delicious rounded flavour, and is a very important component.
Three sausages are grilled to retain the flavour and give you the perfect banger. The sausages sit on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, with a side of garden peas, jug of gravy and a caramelised red onion chutney to add a sweetness to the dish. Dig in and try this unique take on the traditional sausage & mash.
Our new mushroom wings offer the perfect sharing option for vegetarians, with this twist on the classic wing starter. The dish consists of flat field mushrooms coated in crispy breadcrumbs and fried to achieve its golden, crisp exterior. The wings are served with a choice of dips from Garlic cream sauce, Texan BBQ sauce and Piri Piri Hot sauce, depending on how you like your wings.
Along with the addition of some heart-warming dishes we have also added some new drinks to our menu this winter.
As we head into autumn, treat yourself to some autumn violets to spice up your drinks this season. Our new violet drink is a perfect remedy to the falling leaves blues.
BOE VIOLET GIN
This award winning gin infuses violets which creates a stylish gin with a light, delicate taste and beautiful colour and aroma. Perfect with a tonic or as part of a cocktail. Why not try a Violet Spritz cocktail?
BEER & CIDER
BEAVERTOWN GAMMA RAY 5.4%
Beavertown Gamma Ray is a juicy tropical beer that is perfect for all day drinking. Filled with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of American hops are added to the whirlpool giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!
BEAVERTOWN NECK OIL 4.3%
Beavertown Neck Oil is an easy drinking IPA which started as a home-brew. It is a light, crisp, punchy, go to beer that you can appreciate. Extra pale base malts are used to keep it crisp and give the hops a great platform to dance on. Masses of hop additions during the whirlpool and a huge dose of dry hops make this a brilliantly ‘easy’ ipa.
CRAFT ACADEMY OVER EASY 3.8%
Triple hopped with single variety Mosaic, this session IPA is easy drinking, but also full of tasty character. Soft and citrus fruits are balanced by clean resin herbal hop. Pale and Carapils malts give sweetness and body with Crystal malt adding a delicious toffee note. The addition of rye malt adds a spicy astringency to this balanced and satisfying ale.
KOPPARBERG PASSIONFRUIT 4%
This new flavour from Kopparberg promises maximum refreshment, bringing together Kopparberg’s world-famous apple cider with the popular tropical fruit.
PALMETTO EDEN VALLEY RIESLING
With bright acidity and minerality, this is classic Eden Valley riesling at its best. The wine was cool fermented and wholebunch pressed with lemon, sherbert, crunchy green apple, limezest and honeysuckle featuring in the wine.
THE PASS SAUVIGNON BLANC
Fresh and zesty sauvignon blanc from Marlborough, with tropical fruits and a long, clean finish.
