The Golden Fleece is filled with character with its whitewashed walls and tall Georgian windows in keeping with its historical neighbourhood. The pub is surrounded by lovely independent boutiques in period buildings.
Inside, the pub is split into small, cosy spaces with low ceilings and exposed brickwork. For sports fans there are several TV's perfect for watching the big games live. Outside, you’ll find one of the best beer gardens in the area perfect for summer days. The garden is secluded with a contemporary feel, overlooking the canal, and not to forget the ice cream van.
The pub started its life as a village prison, dating back to the 1800's, though you wouldn't notice today!
Part of the pub’s cellar has been converted into a cosy function space called the Boot Room, which can be hired for private events. It has its own bar and toilets and is accessed via a separate entrance at the side of the building, creating extra privacy for you and your guests. There is only one step down into the room, so it’s ideal if you require disabled access. Wooden floors, low ceilings and a gallery wall filled with pictures of Old Lymm all add to the cosy atmosphere of the Boot Room. And contrary to what you might expect from a former cellar, it has plenty of natural light.
With a capacity for 50 people, this is a popular venue for birthday celebrations and family get-togethers, but also for meetings, quizzes and charity events. Groups keen to hire the room to watch big sports matches are well catered for, as there is a TV here too. Our fabulous pub garden is also available to hire for private events.
At the heart of a huge network of pretty canal paths in the historical village of Lymm, the Golden Fleece is perfectly positioned for walkers, cyclists and boaters seeking a drink in tranquil surroundings. We’re a firm favourite with dog walkers too and even have an outdoor dog bar so that our canine guests don’t feel left out. Whether you are passing by on foot, water or bicycle, we invite you to find a cosy corner inside or a relaxing spot in our garden and join us for a drink or bite to eat.
