Wimbledon Tennis Championships

- 1st July – 14th July -

Wimbledon is widely regarded as the most prestigious tennis tournament, attracting the best of the world’s tennis talent each year, and all eyes with be on Andy Murray, where he will be hoping to be able to make the tournament and sign off his career with an emotional swansong in SW19.

The tournament takes place at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London where it has been hosted since 1877. The tournament is one of four Grand Slams which take place each year, but is widely considered the most coveted. Wimbledon is well known for being the only major tournament that is still played on grass, after the Australian Open switched to hardcourt in 1988.

Each year the tournament attracts around 500,000 spectators and millions of television viewers worldwide across the two week period. The best seats in the house are the famous Royal Box which is reserved for members of the royal family and invited guests, and it is always full of famous faces from the world of showbiz and high society. All eyes will be on the box to see who will be invited as one of the 74 guests to take their place this year, and a keen eye on the outfits chosen.

Whether you are planning to enjoy all the action on the court, heading to experience the energy of the crowds gathered on the slopes of Murray Mount or you are simply looking to enjoy the atmosphere without the queues and costs, we have a selection of pubs nearby perfect for soaking up the British summer.
